How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

While not as good as the first or third movie, Die Hard 2 is a solid sequel, that back when this series was still a trilogy was considered the weakest in the series. I wasn't a big fan of it originally ( because of its tendencies to keep repeating elements from the first movie, which seemed annoying at times). I have on repeat viewings come to actually enjoy the movie, the template for the story is basically a repeat of the first movie but instead of a skyscraper you have an airport with the German terrorists of the first film being replaced by homegrown American rogue military mercenaries threaten down planes if a South American dictator is not released. Suffice to say there is plenty of action and some witty one liners from Willis who is conscious of the predicament he finds himself in. This would be the last entry Willis McClane would play the lone wolf cop hero as from the next entry onwards he would always partnered up with a sidekick. It's an enjoyable bit of Tosh, I note this movie was Certificate 15 when it was released in the UK and then on VHS. It wasn't until the late 90's it was re-released on Widescreen VHS and later DVD that it was given the harder 18 rating. It's this uncut version that has been subsequently released on the different formats from blurry to streaming video websites etc. This harder version of the film is a lot more engrossing than the original cert 15 that was released originally in 1990.

Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? YES. Is Die Hard 2 a Christmas movie? YES YES. If that's not enough then this film has a HUGE twist :-) Would have had 5 stars but the gun shots are super loud. I think it's a 90s thing. Also it has pagers, worth watching with your teenagers just so you can explain that weird moment in tech history!!

Who would have thought back in 1988 when the original Die Hard hit the cinema screens that it would spawn a 5 film franchise. This second film in the series is a more than decent entry predominantly taking place inside a busy airport. Our hero John McLaine comes up against a group of terrorists who have crippled the Air Traffic Control and are able to crash planes at will. Not only must John McLaine face taking down the terrorists, he also has to contend with an overworked and grumpy airport police captain, the fact that his wife is on one of the threatened planes and a news reporter wanting the big headlines. Can McLaine single handily restore order to the airport? As well as safely bringing down the plane that his wife Holly is on? I have knocked off a star because the DVD I received was the 2:35 Widescreen Aspect Ratio version meaning the film played out on the TV in a letterbox fashion and this wasn't made clear to me when I ordered.

The original Die Hard Special Edition DVD release was a lavish triple folding case with an 8-page booklet and absolutely hours and hours of amazing Bonus features... and the animated menu screens were really well thought out. I was very impressed with it, which is why I feel a bit short-changed by Die Hard 2 Special Edition. Gone is the triple fold case (but you do get the nice thick cardboard/shiny print sleeve this time too!), the booklet and the comprehensive Bonus features (there isn't any multi-angle shots this time or the brilliant 'Cutting room' where you edit your own scene) , but they have made an effort to continue with the animated menu screen sequences!

Although I do enjoy DH2, it just can't live up to the original movie and the DVD release just doesn't feel as lovingly put together this time round either.

A decent sequel to 1988's "Die Hard". Having only seen William Saddler in "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile", I found him to be an excellent villain. Great seeing other stars in this such as John Leguizamo and Robert Patrick before they became well known.
(Nothing to do with the movie but for some reason the option to turn on subtitles for this was disabled; would have been nice to have the option to turn them on!)
